A movie I will not soon forget.....

Not that the movie is so unbelievably good.

But the story is very realistic, dramatic and bleak.

A story about superficial beauty, emptiness, abandonment and loneliness, the usefulness and negative side of drugs and about illness.

Angelina Jolie's best work in my opinion. The whole movie is incredibly impressive. Some scenes come in so hard. You have to deal with every character and the rawness of the film makes it intense, which is good for such a tragic story. First seen a few years ago, and now a few days ago. I can say I liked him even better.

Mme.

Gia can especially score on the fact of the story, which turns out to be remarkably intense. I certainly didn't expect Jolie in these kinds of roles, although the more daring scenes with her only towards the final really come into play. Unless you count her nude scenes as daring, of course.

Jolie in the lead role doesn't really manage to carry the game as far as I'm concerned, especially since she seems to have a hard time disconnecting from her overall persona. This may be a former role of hers, but that doesn't change the fact that it is difficult to take her really seriously. The acting is not really brilliant. At least not strong enough to gain empathy from my side.

The tone is strong, certainly towards the second half, but that does not alter the fact that the directing itself is a bit shaky. Letting the story lead a bit too easily and leaving a somewhat bare impression. There is still too little atmosphere and the hard tone is mainly due to some hard and heavy progression of the plot. I have a lot of respect for the story and the weighting of it, but I'm afraid that little else will stay with me from the film.
