A decent, bludgeoning film. At least the first half holds up thanks to a few good fight scenes, but in between, the film struggles to really get going, and the audiovisuals remain somewhat flat. There's a fairly realistic approach (which is also indirectly evident from the "interviews" with Byung-du), but it could have had a bit more punch.

For example, I don't think the main character is all that great, but around the last half hour it gets a lot better and the ending is even surprising - at least I didn't see it coming - which still leaves you with a satisfied feeling.

PS those singing/karaoke scenes

A bit of a chaotic film...but that often happens in Asia.

Good acting and cool and hard scenes pass by on the screen...yes, I enjoyed it very much.

A slick gangster film based on a tried-and-true Korean recipe. That means lots of exorbitant violence between men, who, no matter how often they're beaten up and/or kicked, always get back up in their suits and happily pick up where they left off. They also leave no visible traces of it, because those disappear within a day or so. So fake. Utterly ridiculous nonsense.

The romantic subplot is a bit of a drag, serving no purpose within the film. In the few moments he gets to act, In-sung Jo does a pretty good job. His girlfriend, Bo-young Lee, is merely a sideshow.
