The Earth Dies Screaming plot
"They came from the heavens... and sent the world into hell!"
An American starship test pilot returns to Earth and finds that nearly everyone has been killed by unknown forces. There are a few survivors and with them he devises a plan to protect himself from the mysterious invaders. These turn out to be some kind of strangely-controlled robots, who also resurrect the dead to carry out their will.

Unlike many American B&C movies, the lighting, filming, and acting here are actually decent. Even the aliens look reasonable. Unfortunately, the story is quite short and fairly standard: a few survivors against the aliens and zombies. There is a lot of bickering, and naturally, we are just waiting for the spacemen and zombies, who get far too little screen time.

Very low budget and a short running time, but nonetheless an entertaining film. The fact that very little of the story's mystery is revealed actually gives the film that extra mysterious atmosphere. Furthermore, the lack of bombast and a rather calm English atmosphere make this something different for a change.
