'The Covenant' tells the story of 'The Sons of Ipswich', four young students at the Spencer Academy elite school, who are linked by their secret parentage. Descendants of the original families who settled in the colony of Ipswich in the 1600s, they were all born with a special gift. Nasty but still nice.
It is clear that you are dealing with a director who is familiar with the genre, it is just a shame that the film is too focused on the attention of teenagers. Because behind the corniness hides a pretty cool witch horror, you just have to be able to turn a blind eye now and then.
Visually it is quite nice. Despite the age, the effects still work well. It doesn't look slick anymore, but the effect is still there. Furthermore, it is also attractive, both in terms of location and lighting. The fights are also entertaining, although the last fight is a bit disappointing.
But that teenage chatter is a lot less. Rather boring characters and some drama that absolutely does not captivate. Think of a male version of The Craft, or a precursor to the Twilight series. Not really things I'm passionate about. But as said, put that aside and there is still quite a bit to enjoy here. It just could have been a lot more.

What a boring movie. As Underdog says, it reminds me a bit of a weak predecessor to Twilight.
Where I still like Twilight. I think this is quite a sit. Bad actors, no atmosphere at all, I wasn't interested at all in the characters who also didn't get any depth and it all jumps from scratch.
Funny to see a few actors at the beginning of their careers. Also quickly forgotten.
