Falls City is a tight-knit, white, devout community. Some black families once lived there, someone says. Homosexuals are immediately sent away. That's where Teena Brandon ended up, a twenty-year-old girl with a sexual identity crisis, as she calls it. Teena Brandon was born in the wrong body. She pretended to be a man and called herself Brandon Teena. His friends are short of words to praise the lover Brandon. But Nissen and Lotter were screwed by their buddy who talked like a man and could even piss out of a car window, and retaliated when they discovered what many girls already knew. On Christmas Eve 1993, they kidnapped and raped Teena Brandon. Brandon is murdered by the same perpetrators on New Year's Eve 1993. Muska and Olafsdóttir combine archival material (news broadcasts, tapes of the police interrogation and trial) with interviews with friends, lovers, family, police officers and the two suspects, one of whom has since been sentenced to death and the other to life.
