Usually a feel-good movie has a pattern of two steps forward, one back, then two forwards, etc. until you get to the finish line, but with this film the stumbling blocks were very minor – until the unexpected death of the publisher / fiancé throws a spanner in the works, that was a solid setback. Apart from that, I actually found the whole film fairly bland without it really bothering me, thanks in part to the solid playing of Zellweger, McGregor and Watson. The main downside I found the animated bunnies, that seemed a bit infantile to me, as if the makers wanted to address "the child in the adult viewer" but used a much too childish method. All in all, however, quite fascinated by it, and also, yes, moved, snotter snotter, anyway.
Two funny details: Ewan McGregor's mother is played by Phylidda Law, Emma Thompson's real mother, and one of his brothers (the beardless one) by David Bamber, Mr Collins in the TV film adaptation of [i]Pride and prejudice[ /i] from 1995 (the one with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle).

Charming, romantic film, certainly sentimental, but with a very good act by Renée Zellweger, which perfectly radiates the ambition and drive of the main character.

The ending was a bit surprising and perhaps lacks a climax.

Very sympathetic and even somewhat enchanting film with a very strong Zellweger. Too little special to really impress, but definitely worth watching.
