Largely associated as being Polish in origin, Polka culture today is primarily an American phenomenon. The culture is largely extinct in central Europe, except in the countryside. Polka festivals have sprung up all over the country and they are getting bigger and bigger every year. Apart from its European origin, the Polka has been transformed in America and other elements have been added such as dance, food and religion.
