After a film from Iceland, a film from Sweden. Apparently keep looking north tonight.

Once again a depressing atmosphere with a young cast who perform their roles properly.

Although I thought Filippa was a bit too pushy. Amalia Holm and Felice Jankell form a strong duo who play their roles sincerely and believably. It was a shame that I somehow got the point after fifteen minutes. Yet the film still managed to fascinate me enough because of the performance of the cast and how the story continued to develop. The ending was also appropriate given the course of the story. 6.5/10

Atmospherically shot drama horror with a very manageable pace. Not all substantive concepts work equally well, but that certainly does not stand in the way of a very interesting work. In particular, the blossoming relationship between Amalia Holm Bjelke and Felice Jankell is very effective and centralizes itself ideally. Subtly designed with sparkling chemistry, that's how I personally like it. On the other hand, a somewhat overly caricatured bad guy emerges in Molly Nutley, who does not really belong in Alena's peculiar tone. This was his debut in the film world for the Swedish director Daniel di Grado and in his other directing career he has mainly focused on television series, but he knows very well how to create an oppressive, exciting atmosphere. This leaves the horror lover wanting for nothing, but ultimately this subgenre is not Alena's main focus. Personally, I didn't think the film was very strong conceptually, but the atmosphere, relationship development and structure form a very solid basis and together contribute to a fascinating surprise.
