The moment the software company of the deeply religious brothers Johan and Peter van der Laan goes on the stock exchange in America, it turns out that the billion-dollar group was built on quicksand. When a young financial director makes amends with Johan's daughter, an inextricable tangle of business interests, private affairs and faith arises and the empire collapses like a house of cards.

This is a very good movie. The story of a very large company that is not doing so well financially and a young accountant who is allowed to fix the mess is not very special in itself. But what makes the film very special is the background against which it all takes place. A background of enormous hypocrisy. Lying and cheating and even worse. All hidden behind the cover of the lord. And that makes the film very oppressive and extremely fascinating from the beginning to the end. In addition, there is also excellent and very believable acting by a large number of very good actors. A top film from Dutch soil.

A very good movie for a long time. Exciting, strong atmosphere, excellent content and thematically, and that is filled with beautiful characters, all of which are excellently portrayed by the actors. If one point can be called the best, it is the acting. Everything is natural and true to nature, yet each of the four main characters has its own character. The film flies by as the pawns are slowly prepared for a grand finale.
But then the last ten minutes. If you expect people to go along slowly in the maelstrom downwards and everything will become more and more miserable (but as a film more exciting and better), the film suddenly ends. Truly an anticlimax. With the mere current 90 minutes, it would have easily been possible to add another fifteen minutes. Shame. 3.5*.

Very strong Dutch film, in which the experimental faith is portrayed painfully well. The rise and fall of the Baan brothers is of course spectacular enough and this film takes it one step further.
