I found the movie very entertaining. Some scenes were over the top, such as an insanely long line of people waiting in Moscow. The atmosphere in the Moscow living room was so great that I rewinded several scenes to enjoy the wire bookcases and spartan furniture a little longer. Robin Williams stole the show and I was amazed that he could speak Russian. And not with just a few words, but throughout entire scenes. Very handsome. Moscow was dark, gloomy and sad in the film and the New York scenes often looked sun-drenched (bright blue skies) and overly colorful. A very nice transfer of this film on Blu-ray with English subtitles has recently become available for purchase via powerhousefilms.co.uk. The release turns the film into an experience. Very worthwhile for enthusiasts.

Robin Williams plays a Russian who defects to America. In the beginning it is quite an entertaining film that is enjoyable to watch, although it is clearly not a high-flyer from the start. Even Robin Williams doesn't really come across as gifted. But gradually the film collapses and becomes more and more boring. And the further the film goes on and the longer it lasts, the less interesting and less convincing the film appears. Towards the end there also seems to be some kind of morale that needs to be introduced. But it disappears completely into emptiness and superficiality. No, this should have all been much better. Now the film fizzles out and you forget it in no time.
