A little less than I expected after recently enjoying the Beverly Hills Cop movies.

Danny and Ray are a nice cop duo but I missed a bit more humor on the hilarious side. It would also have been nice to see a little more done with their time in Key West like their police work continuing there or something.

The music was fine with Sweet Freedom by Michael McDonald, although there could have been some more typical 80s songs.

Not the greatest comedy, but nice relaxation.

2.5 stars

Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours, Lethal Weapon; a film that does its very best to find the engine of those kinds of hits, but it doesn't really succeed. Hyams is an action director, while the film is only too happy to be a comedy. If that is to succeed, it has something to do with your leading roles. Hines gets through it pretty well, Crystal shows up a lot less. Especially if he's going to be joking. The low point is those imitations. Oof..

Oddly enough, if he doesn't do that, he comes across much better. Signing for the movie. The humor and the buddy level are too forced, it even regularly disrupts the action with those shitty remarks in between the antics. Annoying. Furthermore, those segments are good, Hyams conjures up a few nice tricks in ditto locations, but his duo is not strong enough to convince this.

For some reason a bit of a forgotten film that I have actually rarely seen in the store (in the days when there were still several DVD shops in our streetscape). And as far as forgetting is concerned, I didn't know much about it either, except that I had a great time with it at the time and that at a certain point the gentlemen wore T-shirts with painted breasts. When (finally) revised, I once again thoroughly enjoyed the dialogues and the chemistry between the two protagonists, which are not so much the main as the only reasons to watch this film, because the plot is really nothing at all, but without that somehow could have been foreseen, Crystal and Hines make a great couple together, and that's what this is about. Oh, and maybe an eighties hater could still indulge in the dated haircuts, clothes, footwear and music, but I didn't care about that. All in all still a fun movie, not as funny as thirty years ago but still entertaining (yes, those T-shirts too).
