I really liked the Peter Pan movie. I also liked the effects like the mermaids in the water and the elves. It was also really portrayed as a children's adventure film and I think it certainly succeeded in that.
My 4 year old daughter is already nervous. Since she can't really go for the story yet, she mainly has to rely on the special effects. And since she is fascinated to watch the entire film, I think that's fine with that.

Quite a nice film adaptation of the animation. It remains mainly kids entertainment, but it works quite complementary while at the same time they do not deviate too much from the original.
The cast is also well chosen and fit well in their roles, I just had to get used to Peter Pan himself.
And I remember that in the animation there was a different clock sound or melody when that crocodile came..?! too bad it was different here (if I'm right)
Too bad there was no nostalgia for me here, otherwise it would have scored a bit higher.

This is a film that leaves a mixed feeling. It looks like a youth play with too big a budget, but occasionally it does look good. Floating between art and kitch. Acting is child-sized, but in itself it is balanced. And the story is definitely better than the Disney version. The symbolism of the story, even if it is never really spoken, also comes to the fore.
Tinkerbell is played by Ludivine Sagnier who received several nominations the same year for her role as the sexy lead in François Ozon's film Swimming Pool. Again, Tinkerbell is anything but a sympathetic character and I come across several articles on the internet from people who wonder whether Tinkerbell is actually a Disney villain.
I notice that the film is mainly aimed at a young audience instead of making it the usual family film. Cinematographer Donald McAlpine has also worked on other films of similar ugly beauty (or beautiful ugliness) with an abundance of bling bling: Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet and Chronicles of Narnia. It leaves me with a mixed feeling, you can't call it very beautiful. But it's not bad either.
