The Lake House plot
"How do you hold on to someone you've never met?"
When Alex buys a house on a lake in 2004, he finds letters in the mailbox of the previous owner, Kate Forster. He wants to deliver the letters to her current address, but then finds out that the address no longer exists. Kate and Alex start writing to each other and are shocked to discover that Alex is alive in 2004 and Kate in 2006. They try to find a way to meet, as the two fall hopelessly in love.

A delightful romance where one obstacle prevents the two main protagonists from meeting throughout the film – with one exception that immediately makes for a tense scene at Kate and Morgan's party. Excellent play from both leads. I always wonder what Christopher Plummer actually does in this film and what exactly Alex's difficult relationship with his father adds to this film, but well, otherwise not important. (Or did I miss a hint that Dad added certain magical properties to his blueprint to possibly mess up his son's life even more?)

How romantic.... a house on a lake..... Similar to Premonition (2007) in which Sandra Bullock also plays. I think it's a special story, a romantic drama with a happy ending. You shouldn't think too much about the timelines, of course this isn't possible in real life, but that goes for all fantasy and SF movies. The film grabbed me, because I was so relieved that they could finally embrace each other! I am not a particular fan of Sandra Bullock, but Keanu Reeves, yes very nice to see! Oh yes, the dog was cute too!
