Reasonable film in which a single mother of five children goes on holiday and hires a babysitter. An entertaining one-joke movie in which it is especially fun to see how the main character maintains herself in the adult world. Totally unbelievable and predictable, of course, but ultimately fun to watch.

This was Christina Applegate's first major role in film at the time after she became very popular (especially among the boys of course) as Kelly Bundy in the very popular 80s/90s series "Married with Children". Although Christina Applegate did a good job, this teen film does disappoint somewhat because it doesn't amount to much and it is also quite a cliché story. Furthermore, there was little to laugh and it is all a bit bland.

PS Christina Applegate never became really successful in the film world and her career highlight was the series "Married with Children".

Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead is one of those movies that I've watched a number of times throughout my life. Although the film is from 1991, the 80s vibe is still very much present and it is a pleasure to enjoy the many caricatures that the film has. The only thing I struggle with a bit is the fact that the film is just a bit too good for me. The plot with Applegate's characters going to work for that big firm is fun at first, but it gets a bit too serious and in fact every time I watch it I feel like I'm really looking forward to the movie and that the second half of the movie my attention has waned greatly.

As a result, the film always fluctuates in my appreciation. So it may just be that I will increase it again at the next viewing.

2.5* for the time being.
