Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead plot

"Humans... the other white meat..."

When American Chicken Bunker, a military-oriented fast food chain specializing in fried chicken, plans to build a restaurant on a former Native American cemetery, local residents aren't the only ones protesting. The former farmers, fed by supernatural powers, take possession of all the food. Those who then eat the white chicken meat, and the survivors, find that they must work together before they become the food themselves, the other white meat.

Crazy.

As we can probably smell, Poultrygeist is purely a troma film. Again all poop and piss jokes, and also an overdose of limbs in terms of gore and jokes. I also think it gives a big middle finger to a lot of elements that we can expect in daily life.

It was a bit of a very raunchy first part of the film, like a very fat man who has to go to the toilet. and sometimes it was even a bit boring. I still had to laugh at a strange kind of humor. Unfortunately I didn't fully enjoy it.

The last part is the best, really over the top and really gross. The most bizarre ways are discussed there.

Well, I didn't find it that overwhelming, and Troma is still not really my kind of humor.

Troma lived for years on the cult success of The Toxic Avenger (1984) and it took more than 20 years for producer and director Lloyd Kaufman to make a film came along which is just as entertaining. It is striking that the lead actors Jason Yachanin and Kate Graham - especially by Troma standards - have acting talent and comic timing. Even in the most crazy scenes they don't fall into the heavy overacting that ruins so many Troma films. Kaufman himself also has an important and not without merit role as the adult version of main character Arbie [Yachanin]. He even sings and dances in one of the surprising (and surprisingly entertaining) musical interludes.

Although the title suggests otherwise, the first half is mainly a romantic, musical comedy and only in the second half does it degenerate into the crazy (and somewhat long-winded) splatter horror that Troma is so famous for. Entertaining cameos from Motörhead frontman Lemmy, porn actor Ron Jeremy and Troma favorite Joe Fleishaker and the inventive way in which Kaufman knocks over countless sacred cows make this an absolute must. The sublime love duet 'Slow Fast Food Love' is the icing on the cake.

My first Troma. It wasn't a trauma, but it still took some time to turn the switch. Just crazy. Now, the video clip trailer added here is great. I give that alone 4.0*. A great song that has been running through my head all day. The film itself, well, what can you say about it? You like it or you hate it. I'm somewhere in between, but if I have to choose I'm more of an enthusiast.

There is no shortage of filth and rancidity at all. It's dripping. All types of bodily fluids are discussed. The humor, well, it is indeed very lame, but every now and then I still had a grin. At times on the edge of politically correct. It's lucky that not too many people see this, I think. The acting is terrible, but when you see how the crew is having fun, I'm happy to take this.

Haha, that tug-of-war between Wendy and Arbie. Actually, I thought it was quite funny. And those chickens, especially the little ones that just hatched from the eggs, are cute. Other things were very bad, well, you can't have everything. This film certainly won't keep me from seeing other works from the Troma genre, which says something.
