When Robert Cannon, the powerful and wealthy president of Thornhill Software in Boston, learns that his younger brother Kevin has been killed in a boating accident, he returns to where they grew up together to receive the body. Robert is emotionally unprepared for what he encounters in his old seaside hometown. Stories about pirates and hidden treasures make him even more confused. Evie Shaw, the woman Kevin rented a boat from, is convinced Kevin's death was not an accident. Intrigued by this story and the attractive widow Evie, Robert sets out to uncover the truth about his younger brother's death...
