We write the year 1880, when the twin girls Lili and Dora were born into poverty. Years later they are separated from each other and they beg in the streets of Budapest. Dora grows up as a confident, carefree, high-spirited woman. Her sister Lili, on the other hand, becomes serious and becomes an anarchist.

A unique film, and another excellent choice by Second Run to unearth it. A dreamy film that bears many influences from early cinema, and although I saw little of that, it also seems to have been influenced by other Hungarian cinema. A reflective, yet enigmatic film that looks back on a time (when this film was released) when the world order was completely shaken. The core of this film is about the relationship between the individual and major changes in the world. But not those that were in the air in 1989, but those that had already occurred.
