During the investigation, tensions between the mainly 'black' Dempsy and the predominantly 'white' neighboring town of Gannon increase.

This is a really bad movie. While the cast is actually fine when you see the names in advance. Now it was a good thing that both Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore put in a respectable performance, because otherwise it would have been impossible to finish the film.

The latter in particular really pulls out all the stops to give her role some shine. Respect for that, because I have not seen such a stupid role as Moore had in ages.

What a nonsense story. Messy from the start and when something important is finally in the pipeline it is just as hard knocked back by a terribly bad dialogue or a stupid event.

No, I was more annoyed than I enjoyed it and it shows in the score.

Seriously insufficient.

Reasonable film in which emotions run high in a neighborhood when a child is missing. Dark in tone. A story that wants to go a bit too much, which makes it rather unbalanced and often only seems half finished. This is partly made up for by a good cast and some strong and well-written dialogue scenes.

The scenario rattles from all sides, but fortunately there is still Samuel L. Jackson who tries to make something of it. A lot of unnecessary dialogues, but also certain scenes they could have quietly cut out of this film. The theme did appeal and that two storylines are mixed together was not a problem in itself. But the effect was often very poor. 5/10
