Muppets from Space plot
"Space. It's not as deep as you think."
Gonzo feels lonely without a family and goes in search of his past. He receives strange messages through his breakfast cereal. He discovers that his relatives are aliens from a distant planet. On Miss Piggy's talk show "UFOmania", Gonzo says that he is living proof that we are not alone in this universe. This message is enough to get a team of paranoid government officials, led by K. Edgar Singer, after them. In the end, Gonzo not only has to evade Singer, he also has to make an important choice: will he join his relatives he has never seen before, or will he stay with his friends he has known and loved all his life?

A lot has to go wrong for the muppets to get boring; it was a really nice movie; but compared to the other films of this company mediocre.

After the big setback that was the Muppet reboot from a few years ago, this was a very big windfall. A good amount of nice cameos, an unparalleled role by Jeffrey Tambor and a good dose of fun ensure that Muppets From Space was a very enjoyable sit. Best of all is the fact that there wasn't a single song to be found and no terribly stale morals are superimposed, making the film at least as much fun for adults as it is for children.
I do miss these late 90s Muppets. Clifford, Johnny Fiama, Rizzo and Bobo Bear were very nice additions to the already existing cast and also ensured that the cast was modernized a bit without losing the Muppet charm. It goes without saying that as a film itself it doesn't amount to much, but it is very entertaining.

In my opinion one of the better muppet films where the topper A Muppet Family Christmas (1987) (4*) is certainly not surpassed, but of the five or so muppet movies I've seen, this one comes in second place. I would have liked them to have really shot the muppets into space, almost the entire story takes place on Earth. In retrospect, the title also indicates that, it is "Muppets from Space", while I had hoped for an "Muppets in Space". Apart from that personal preference, this remains a fun and pleasant muppet film where the muppets are not outplayed by (an excess of) human characters, which is fortunately not the case here. Entertaining. 3.5*
