Nine to Five plot

"Getting even is a full-time job."

When her husband leaves her for another woman, she is suddenly on her own. She gets a job as a secretary at a large company with a woman oppressor as chief. The executive leadership of the department is in the hands of a very experienced woman who is about to be promoted. However, she doesn't get the promotion, because the chief prefers a man in the position. She angrily runs away to a bar and the newcomer follows her to tell her that a colleague has been unfairly fired. The secretary, who everyone says is having an affair with the chief, also joins. The three of them smoke marijuana and fantasize about how they would like to kill the chief.

Very nice movie, I've loved it for years. Does anyone know where this can be purchased with Dutch subs?

The momentum picks up right away in this workplace comedy. The song of the same name by Dolly Parton accompanies the hectic opening montage, in which time pressure is the motif. Alarm clocks and other clocks come into view, hasty footsteps, a teeming crowd, skyscrapers in a frog's eye view.

Dabney Coleman plays a caveman in a suit. He makes sexist comments, flirts with his secretary, talks like a baseball coach, has a hunting trophy hanging on the wall, and discriminates against women when it comes to promotion. Three female employees will take appropriate revenge and turn the tide.

Jane Fonda plays the divorced woman who has never had a job before and tries her best by dressing herself up excessively. Dolly Parton in her acting debut brings in a southern accent and a lot of energy. Lily Tomlin plays the highly skilled employee who crashes into the glass ceiling.

There are different types of humor in it. Verbal humor lies in slips of the tongue and ambiguities. Jane Fonda has some scenes of physical comedy. Three fantasies are inserted during an evening of smoking weed. The dramatic irony of the corpse in the suitcase was also in episode 2.28 of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. The Three Furies introduce a number of family-friendly measures, such as flexible working hours and childcare. Those social themes, which were in full swing at the time, ensure that it is more than a series of jokes.

A really good comedy, although you have to empathize with the spirit of the times. Nice script, nice acting. Had a good laugh a few times. The leading ladies are different enough to be complementary. From the hash party onwards the story really takes off. And moreover, the soundtrack is adorned with an all-time classic by Dolly Parton - for me also the first film with this lady.
