Good film about a girl who marries at a young age and subsequently pursues a musical career. This biopic about country star Loretta Lynn has a more coherent story, especially during the first half, and less just the highs and lows as with other comparable (musical) biopics. This first part, which takes place in Kentucky, is the best. Sissy Spacek plays a beautiful role and sings well.

Great film: fascinating story, beautiful structure and a very strong Sissy Spacek (and even TL Jones wasn't too bad this time).

By the way, a long time ago I couldn't get the DVD in the Netherlands, so I ordered the German one (with subtitles, fortunately not dubbed).

Normally one always wants to Germanize the title to something like "Der lange Weg zum Grand Ole Opry" or "Eine heiße Lady im wilde Westen". Now, however, they settled for the simple "Nashville Lady". A bit inconvenient if you search by title, but hey, more countries do that.

Beautiful film. Like some other country stars, Loretta Lynn came out of a hole and made it all the way. The atmosphere is good with the beautiful locations in Kentucky and Tennessee where the film was shot. Nashville with Grand Ole Opry is, as always in these types of films (and careers), the artist's made-it moment. Sissy Spacek was personally chosen by Lynn and is doing fantastic. She and Beverly d'Angelo (in the role of country star Patsy Cline) also do their own singing. Great, I hadn't seen that talent in Sissy. Good cast, excellent direction and good choices regarding the storyline.
