With the Doom games in mind, this movie had the potential to be a fun movie. Unfortunately, that's not quite the case here. The film starts off nicely, but after that it doesn't captivate because the further build-up is excruciatingly slow without action and full of dialogue. It takes a long time for the film to get going. Unfortunately, the film cannot convince when that happens. It lacks tension, the action scenes are not too strong and little variation is used, so that the film contains too much of the same. Fortunately, towards the end comes a very entertaining scene that can be called an ode to the games, but several real highlights are hardly to be found. The monsters are nicely put together and the presence of Dwayne Johnson, which I certainly considered positive, is unfortunately a lot less interesting. Too bad, Doom had the potential to be more.

It's okay.

I've never played Doom the game let alone seen it. I don't mind games but when I looked it up and saw all the monsters I thought this could be a nice action movie. Since it gives a big wink to the monsters.

Unfortunately, it turned out a little less than I had hoped. It takes a very long time before the monsters actually come into view and we first got to see 3 x kind of mutated people and that was a shame. And once the monsters themselves came into view, it wasn't all that pretty. Even though I've seen worse, I had hoped for more.

By the way, towards the end there is a nice scene, the one with Urban in first person shooter. That makes the film to a 2.5*

Pretty bad.

The momentum never really comes into it, and any bad entertainment is also missing. With Dwayne Johnson, Karl Urban and the likes there are some names around, but Johnson is certainly very bad and above all much too serious. He really doesn't care.

The first person shooter scene at the end is a highlight, although the elaboration is still mediocre due to the stately approach. I miss chaos and urgency there. But it's a lot better than the previous lousy action.
