"A motion picture that celebrates the art of survival, the gift of laughter and the miracle of friendship."

A mediocre film in which three women carpool from the East Coast to the West Coast of America. The film starts as a road movie with potential. The characters sometimes come across as somewhat unbelievable, and the dramatic developments feel too forced. There are a few nice scenes and the casting is good too. But 3.0 stars is just too much.

A lovely Whoopie flick about friendship, with characters that are actually all likeable. The film starts as a road movie with two women wanting to carpool to LA and picking up one of their girlfriends in Pittsburgh along the way. They end up stranded in a small town in Arizona where they settle. Then the film becomes high-quality, although feminism sometimes rears its head (it is, after all, more of a chick flick). Nevertheless, Boys on the Side has a big heart and I empathized with the characters, and in that respect, I found this to be a more than successful film. A tear did well up in the corner of my eye at the end, though. McConaughey also has a very early role here as local officer "Abe Lincoln" and Holly's boyfriend. I second BlueJudaskiss: recommended, at least for those who like this type of film.

Singer Goldberg leaves the big city and takes the terminally ill Parker and the young, naive Barrymore along for the ride. They all carry their own personal baggage, which will lead to a profound friendship.

It is all moving, beautiful, and sweetly presented, but just a tad too cheesy for me. Maybe quite palatable on a rainy Sunday afternoon, but this isn't my thing.
