Who's Harry Crumb? plot

"Nerves of steel. Body of iron. Brain of stone."

Harry is the latest offspring of the notorious lineage of outstanding private investigators. Harry himself is an incorrigible klutz, which is why he has his own small office in an insignificant provincial town, while the ambitious Eliot runs his family's office with an iron fist. One day, Harry gets a call from the mother's office: they need his help in a kidnapping case.

Mediocre film about a clumsy private detective who has to solve a kidnapping case. An extremely thin story that does not exactly captivate. Some moments are still entertaining, which is mainly thanks to John Candy who doesn't do anything wrong here. However, it sometimes falls a bit too often for 3.0 stars.

A John Candy comedy is always a time well spent. He often plays the caricature of the stupid and tactless American. Although Harry Crumb is generally less appreciated than other of his films, I still had a good laugh a few times. These are often visual jokes like you find in French films; I especially thought of Pierre Richard films. Also some hilarious costumes, like that Indian and the very last one. It's not much at all, that wimpy detective who has to solve a kidnapping, but it was enjoyable all the way through, and that's something many American comedies don't always succeed in doing.

Much nicer than expected; I used to see pieces on TV but yesterday once in its entirety.

Once the other daughter, Crumb comes to help, the movie gets better as the 2 have a nice chemistry together.

I can't give a 3.25 but the great soundtrack of the film puts me on a 3.5.
