A movie with ups and downs.

The Bachelor has some very nice moments, as well as some less successful moments. It all starts off very nice as a non-standard rom-com but quickly degenerates into a clichéd whole with some oversentment and romantic posturing. Then the film really starts and it also becomes very fun because of the search for a bride. This again mixed with some lesser moments. The film is very stretched by the director who has to make it into a great film. The last scenes are just overkill and in the end it becomes a bit of a bite. The ending is satisfying again. Nice acting by the cast, by the way. Everyone is clearly enjoying it. Too bad Cromwell has a supporting role again, is still a fine actor.

Slightly unbalanced, standard romantic comedy and on the other hand not. It's still fun to follow, but it's nowhere really high-quality.

2*

It's been a long time since I've seen such crap! It is a comedy in the most unfunny sense of the word. Every laugh was a painful one. Completely over the top and not romantic at all. I really have nothing positive to say, because Robin can't break even without Batman. The Bachelor goes from bad to worse with a succession of merely painful scenes, with the ultimate low point being the twenty-minute closing. I literally just couldn't watch it. Plot? horrible. Acting? horrible. Junk only deserves a grade.

Fun romantic comedy that rises above the average comedy. Unfortunately, this gem never came out on bluray. The score on moviemeter is laughable. 4 stars
