What a horribly bad sequel to a great movie. Man, man, man. I really don't understand why there are people who give this movie 4* or more. I was really pissed off watching the whole movie. The dialogues, the soundtrack, the acting: it's all dramatic. And that with some great actors: such a shame.

1*

2/10 (IMDB)

Still a lot better than I expected based on the score here.

Especially the first hour is just strong with enough tension, a reasonable build-up, quite a few old acquaintances from the first part and beautiful special effects.

After that, the level drops a bit due to the more or less borrowed Death star story, but due to the spectacular but unfortunately also somewhat predictable ending, Independence Day: Resurgence manages to pull itself up again.

It's a shame that the screenplay is a bit messy and not too convincing, but otherwise this is just a very entertaining science fiction film in which Jeff Goldblum also has quite a nice acting performance.

Nowhere really high quality, but because of the fantastic images/effects every now and then I give it a good enough score.

In other words ; I just had a great time with this movie.

Bad.

A lot of noise, a lot of tough 'Fuck yeah!' dialogues without substance, but the biggest irritation is the presence of many characters. At least half of it should have just been scrapped. All the characters from the first film are also "funny grumpy" grandpas who walk around here among new but equally uninteresting characters. It's horribly bad.

Pluses are that the special effects are not too bad and that despite (or because of, I don't know) the number of characters passes the time reasonably well. So this unnecessary sequel is still manageable.

1,5
