Le Grand Voyage plot
Réda has lived in Provence for over twenty years. Just before his final exams, he has to take his father by car to the pilgrimage site of Mecca. From the start, this seems to be a tedious ride, as the two have little in common. They hardly talk, and each experiences the journey from his own isolated mindset. They pass through various countries and meet different people. Although they barely communicate, they do see each other. The father sees how other people react to his son, and Réda sees that in addition to his father, his father is also just a man. The distance they cover is 4500 kilometers, the distance between father and son may be even greater. Yet they arrive at their destination.
