Denzel Washington was immediately given a leading role for his film debut. In a very mediocre film, though, as a black son who seeks recognition from his wealthy businessman father. Who goes for all sorts of hypocritical comedy between rich and poor, white and black, top jobs and bottom jobs without really coming up with an interesting insight. When the businessman says goodbye to his rich life at the end and chooses his son, you just don't believe it. And George Segal is simply a terrible actor. Watching him is no gift; nevertheless, the film was quite watchable and that was mainly due to Washington, who already excelled in smooth talking.
