More hysteria than mystery in the final part of Dario Argento's "Three Mothers" trilogy. A great disappointment in which Argento opted more for explicit gore than for atmosphere and inventiveness. Gore fans will get their money's worth here, but just like Inferno, it lacks suspense and a coherent scenario. The story surrounding an urn with which student Sarah [Asia Argento] frees the most dangerous of the 'three mothers' is an excuse for a lot of gore, especially in the spectacular and silly finale. The ghost of Sarah's mother is played by Asia Argento's mother Daria Nicolodi, in case you cared...

I actually didn't even know that this director had made so many films. And all horror so to see. I know some old movies with Keith Emerson and Goblin music. That was also the reason I wanted to see it. Bad movies with bad actors and a bad story but with beautiful music and beautiful sets and lighting. Incidentally, I now read that these are exactly the first two films of a trilogy, of which this is number three. With La Terza Madre we are now about thirty years later. We have arrived in the digital age. And with that, the decors and lighting are no longer as special as they were back then. And the music isn't what it used to be. But the actors have gotten better. And so is the story. However, you should not expect too much from it. There are still plenty of incredulities in it. And there's a lot of cheap securities hunting. And finally, the end of this film in particular suddenly felt very sudden and rushed. Did we have to work towards that for so long? Dario Argento may have become a slightly better filmmaker over the years. But this film is no longer as special as the films of that time. Then he submitted it again.
