In the end, it's just not him.
The plot doesn't feel entirely new, but it's well told. The look behind the scenes of politics with the necessary corrupt games are always interesting. The tension is reasonable, the acting is sufficient and there is a mini-twist. But it doesn't really go deep. It stays too much of the same and the ending is so horribly cringe-inducing American that the film falls from a tight enough to a mediocre one. Disappointing.

The film loses a bit of conviction at the end. I might take the small talk between the president and his female vice president as sympathetic-confidential, but the "Good-American-Glorifying" statement at the end I even found outside the margins of what the film had clarified so well : the ruthless power play of politicians, where you are screened, filleted and caught, also to be "human"...
Certainly a good script, good performances, in which I give the cigar to President Jeff Bridges.
Actually seen at the right time, now that the States is "live" for a presidential election, where the preparation is at an impossibly low human level.

Excellent film in which the nomination for a new vice president is not without fits and starts. This political drama may initially come across as dry fare, but nothing could be further from the truth. Strong dialogues that give the film enough tension. This makes it entertaining from start to finish. A cast with quite a few well-known names that none of them disappoints.
