This is a lost gem!

Definitely recommended for genre enthusiasts. It contains just about all the typical elements, and they fit together damn well. The somber atmosphere is also striking. A dark undertone constantly hovers over the visuals (shootout in the rain). Wonderful! The actors are brilliant as well. Both the bounty hunter and the villain (Manuel) portray their characters convincingly. A fun fact about the villain, too: he is the brother of Volonte. Known to many for his roles in A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More. Throughout the film, I also found myself wondering where I knew him from. It's a shame that the music didn't sound very good at times. Those cynical faces really needed some dominant music. I enjoyed myself as usual (again). It's about time films like this got a bit more attention here. After all, you probably shouldn't judge them on their quality, yet there really are some gems among them.

Just watched this on a German DVD in Italian with German subtitles; paid way too much for it, by the way..

I actually bought it because the ratings here were so good that I got in the mood for this movie.

This is an extremely atmospheric Spaghetti Western with Garko in a good first Western role. It always strikes me that I actually like him better in his other films than in his career-defining role as Sartana, where I found him no more than just okay.

Here he is really good and manages to come across as both ultra cool and more romantic and emotional. It’s been a long time since I saw the hero/gunero with tears in a Spaghetti Western.

The role of his adversary and villain is also portrayed extremely well and broodingly by Claudio Camaso (real name Claudio Volonté and also brother of the more famous Gian Maria Volontè).

Furthermore, we see the beautiful and sultry Loredana Nusciak, who is best known for her role in the original Django (1966 by Corbucci).

Finally, there is the beautiful music by Nora Orlandi, which truly leaves a major mark on the atmosphere of the film and works extremely well with the already very atmospheric visuals.

The story is otherwise okay, but not really very special.

A solid seven, or 3.5 stars.

If you are a fan of Italian Westerns, then this film is worth watching. Despite the amount of mascara Claudio Camaso used. Fun detail: His wanted poster was used one year later for "II Grande Zilencio."
