Yes, a really nice movie. What is brought here is phenomenal for the time. The story starts off a bit lighthearted and certainly has its slapstick moments. But gradually the story darkens and Rains's delusions demand all of our attention. The atmosphere grows grim and the selfish intentions of the invisible man in the service of science become more and more apparent. Certain scenes with the invisible man are just very well made for the time. Nice old-fashioned discovery! 7/10

Reasonable film about a scientist who becomes invisible due to a failed experiment. A fine story, but here and there the film does seem a bit dated (the attempts to catch the invisible man are quite laughable). The special effects are certainly entertaining to watch. A special debut role by Claude Rains (which is actually not to be seen), and two nice supporting roles by the always reliable Henry Travers and Una O'Connor. Just not 3.5 stars.

Still a classic. For such an old film, it's fantastic how they've achieved those special effects. Granted. The acting is a bit wooden and overdone. It was like Comedy Capers at times. The hysterical screams of the inn owner were simply hilarious. And you can't really call it horror. Am convinced it was unbelievably scary and exciting for the public back then

3.5*
