L'Ours et la Poupée plot

"Did you hear about "The Bear and the Doll?""

Cellist Gaspard lives with his son Arthur near Paris and has no special need for a wife. One morning he and his duck collide with a limousine driven by the beautiful, rich Félicia. Félicia is used to men who immediately fall for her, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Gaspard. Despite his grumpy temper, she decides to do everything she can to prove to him that she is irresistible.

BB #42

Another comedy.

Fortunately, this one does work, although I found it took a bit long for the film to get entertaining, and even then, it's still not a real laugh riot for me. But BB is disarmingly cute and wins hands down with that, while the bear Gaspard is also quite charming—Jean-Pierre Cassel plays him well. It's a shame the kids have somewhat small roles; a number of jokes are missed there—just like at BB's party. Or perhaps it was all just too subtle for me.

The atmosphere is also very pleasantly lighthearted, which helps a lot to make the film work. It is a shame about the very nervous music, though.
