The well-known story, which is of course predictable, but that doesn't bother us that much, because it is all very atmospheric.
Tyrone Power is charming, as Zorro should be, the pace is pleasantly fast and it all breathes adventure. Although it never gets very high, it is consistently enjoyable and never boring for a second.
So very nice.

Amusing nonsense. Tyrone Power (whom I always like) does a nice job as the fat (although he doesn't reach the level of Leslie Howard in The Scarlet Pimpernel from 1934), the climactic screen duel between him and the usual great (because incredibly unpleasant) Basil Rathbone is still impressive, and director Rouben Mamoulian keeps the pace going. A fun film from the golden age of Hollywood.
