"From con man to congressman"
After the death of Florida MP Jeff Johnson, his namesake Thomas Jefferson Johnson, a third-class criminal and first-class charlatan, sees his chance to take his place. He launches a campaign based purely on brand awareness (Jeff Johnson, the name you know) and miraculously manages to get elected. Thomas feels at home in the lobbies and informal powers surrounding the congress.

Charming swindler Murphy cleverly gets elected as a US congressman so he can legally scam everyone. Until a cancer patient is staged on Eddie Murphy (and the viewer) rubbing the consequences of corruption under the nose. Marty Kaplan's screenplay is based on testimonials from ex-presidential candidate Walter Mondale.
