Three friends, half-brothers Doughboy and Ricky Baker, and Tre Styles, grow up in the slums of Los Angeles. Tre is raised by his father, Furious Styles, who teaches him morals and values. Wonderful film about the gloomy (ghetto) life in the 90s in America. Seen the film so many times now and it doesn't get boring.
Every time I get older I notice small details that impress me or that I understand.
The bond with the father or the caring words of the father. But also the powerlessness and incomprehension of the young (such as Cuba Gooding for example).
Remains a great and timeless film and has a high youth sentiment for me.

Full of clichés and an annoying Ice Cube in that role (which really brings the film down), but otherwise a nice atmospheric film with a beautiful role by Fishburne. You also get the idea that GTA San Andreas has been inspired here. Also strong how constantly police sirens and a helicopter can be heard above that neighborhood. Content is okay, but not very special. It's nice that it's mainly atmosphere and little plot so that you really get a glimpse into that social environment. Visually not very spectacular. 3.5*.
