The Nanny plot
"Nanny wasn't responsible . . . WAS SHE?"
Joey Fane is blamed for the death of his sister and is sent to a correctional institution. When he returns to his family, his mother is unstable and his father is about to leave for a business trip. Joey barely seems to want to adjust. The housekeeper is also troubled by the boy, who is acting extremely hostile.

Without synopsis.
A creepy classic, worn mainly by Dix and Davis. The story has enough suspense, although there will be virtually nothing to experience for those who know the synopsis.

When I started watching this movie I was a little worried that it would be a bad rip off of 1956's "The Bad Seed". However, this movie is very different. Personally I prefer "The Bad Seed", but "The Nanny" is also a strong film that kept me interested until the end. Until almost the end I kept wondering who the "bad one" really was. Both Nanny and the boy act strongly. Those eyes of Nanny, man man so creepy and yet she came across as very calm when she spoke. It would scare you for less! My love for old thrillers grows every day.
I certainly see similarities with "Rosemary's baby" although I find this film a lot more exciting and fascinating. Rosemary's Baby is a strong film, but it does get a bit long-winded at times. This film never got long and has a perfect running time and atmosphere.

I was waiting a bit for the moment that it would turn out that the boy turned out to be the victim instead of the perpetrator, and although the film is strong, the makers try so hard to convince the viewer of the boy his malice that the switch at the end turns out to be too much of a good thing .
Well played by both Davis and the boy , the rest of the cast gets off a bit badly .
