The Courtesans of Bombay plot

Director Ismail Merchant pays a visit to the Pavan Pool, a kind of harem where the women not only receive men, but also learn to dance and sing. Unfortunately, the women in the Pavan Pool have no rights at all, and the money they earn from their performances ends up in the pockets of their lazy pimps.
