This remains a decent road movie/crime film with some comedic moments. Not the first time I see it, but strangely enough Thunderbolt&Lightfoot sticks as a good memory. Jeff Bridges plays a slightly weaker Eastwood off the screen and has also won an Academy Award for it. The film loses pace in the middle section but is otherwise provided with beautiful images and good Eastwood-Bridges chemistry.

Nice action road movie in which two strangers go after an old loot. The story is on the mediocre side, but the film looks pretty good. At the beginning of the film, the reason for the collaboration between Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is somewhat unclear. Also a somewhat surprising and good ending. Clint Eastwood does what he does best and Jeff Bridges does a nice job, especially when he has to dress up as a woman.

I was a bit confused at the end of the movie because I really hoped they would get away with it. Bridges' death really came as a shock.

Wonderful movie! To be fair, Jeff Bridges easily takes acting greats like Eastwood and Kennedy off the screen. Such enthusiasm and youthful indiscretion, it comes across so incredibly well. Fortunately, the chemistry between the two protagonists is also excellent, so that the dialogues often come across as playful and improvised instead of scripted.

Furthermore, the film has a typical Eastwood film structure: something happens in the beginning, then we get a lot of scenes that are nice (that hillbilly with his raccoon and rabbits), but actually nothing with have to do with the rest of the movie. Only after the middle comes the cover and we finally get an idea where exactly the story is going. None of this is a problem because of the actors and the events, it was more an observation than criticism.

The rest of the cast is also nice. Catherine 'Daisy Duke' Bach in one of her first roles, Geoffrey Lewis as a bumbling gangster and Gary Busey in a tiny part all color this film in such a way that we have the idea of seeing a complete star cast (something that is funny, because both Bach and Busey were not immediate greats then). Kennedy I had never seen such a jerk play, that was something new in that respect, he did a very good job.

As the film lands on the bank heist, the tension builds, especially with Red's betrayal. The ending suddenly comes like a bolt from heaven and still gave me a stranger aftertaste, all through the movie it all seemed to be going so well. Besides, I don't want to see 'the dude' die. Still an incredibly fun movie!
