Nice nonsense from Miike. I'm generally not a fan of his work - this is also only the 2nd enough that I hand out, but these kinds of movies make sure I give one of his films a try. 'Ôdishon' remains the best, but this Zebraman can also get on with it.

The biggest downside is that Miike can't conjure up enough creative, funny and entertaining scenes to fill this playing time. The movie is just a bit too long. Fortunately, the film has a number of very comical and WTF moments to hand out a sufficient amount.

The movie didn't hold my breath... thought it was a bit bland. Turned it off half way through to continue watching the next day… and watched it; though I kept getting haunted by the idea that I had better things to do.

It can depend on taste of course and humor is always a bit more complicated than psychological issues, scary things and violence... - if the kind of humor doesn't come across - it immediately fails.

Saw it a few years ago and watched it again yesterday. It remains a wonderfully bland concept, a zebra as an action hero, and the film really has its moments. Especially during the cheesy songs: "zebura, zebura", and when zebranurse passes by. What a pity that the tempo is often very slow. Had the film been more compact, it would have been a lot easier to digest. If I add the CGI, which was very mediocre, to that, I still end up with an insufficient. 2*.
