Suske en Wiske: De Duistere Diamant plot
In the swamp near the farm, Suske and Wiske find a dark diamond that they unsuspectingly take with them. It soon becomes clear that whoever is in possession of the diamond is literally laughing. Anyone who buys the jewel voluntarily loses all joie de vivre and slowly languishes.

Been a long time since I saw this one. I lost that movie back then when burglars stole my portable DVD player. The DVD player was a pitiful loss, the DVD that happened to be in it actually wasn't. The dark diamond was always one of my favorite Suske en Wiske albums because it is one of the older classic albums. Since the late 80's I think the Suske en Wiske albums are getting pretty weak and at the end of the 90's I even stopped reading new releases. This series should have ended about 20 years ago.
Now about the movie I can be brief, found it quite boring, the changes they made to the original story were rather bland. Indeed, Sidonia must not be mother's prettiest, but to have a man play her was downright ridiculous. Only Wiske still looked nice and it was nice to see Urbanus in a role as MIddeleeuwer, but that's about all.

That a live-action film adaptation of a comic strip can work well has already been proven through the Tintin films with Jean-Pierre Talbot. But this Suske & Wiske: The Dark Diamond is just not it! How cheap does the production look! And why the hell let the role of Aunt Sidonia be played by a man with a falsetto voice? The actor who plays Jerom doesn't care either. And Lambik is missing his six hairs, as someone has already noticed! As a child I read all Suske & Wiske albums, my childhood memories are being raped here!
