This film was ahead of its time in some areas. In the beginning we see Stanwyck's character making feminist statements that were far from common in the 1950s but are now completely normal.

Stanwyck plays a woman with ambition, working at the newspaper she already finds herself disadvantaged and she writes columns that are purely aimed at women as so-called victims.

Geensins plans to get married when she meets Bill (an LA policeman), she falls head over heels for him and despite the fact that she prefers a career over being a housewife, they marry shortly afterwards.

But her ambitions go far beyond her boring housewife existence and, frustrated by Bill's lack of ambition, she takes a wrong turn.

Stanwyck and Hayden play their roles very well, and the story seems far from rushed despite the rather short running time.

Too bad the film ends a bit too early in my opinion.
