A handsome Surinamese man (Borger Breeveld) hastily leaves his Dutch girlfriend (Willeke Van Ammelrooy) to visit his dying mother in Paramaribo. Back in his homeland, he soon becomes confronted and obsessed with his own culture. However, when he falls in love with the Hindustani 'Rubia', the community is turned upside down.
