Lumumba plot
In 1960, the young nationalist Patrice Lumumba becomes Congo's first prime minister. Belgium left the country to its fate after the declaration of independence. The ensuing power struggle, both nationally and internationally, led to the end of Lumumba's regime after only two months. In the end, he pays the ultimate price for his ideals when he is murdered by his opponents in Katanga.
