The Lion King 1½ plot

"You Don't Know The ½ Of It!"

In a mad mood, Timon and Pumbaa reveal a number of secrets that the lion king would not be happy with. They tell, among other things, what really happened when Mufasa introduced his son to the people and the two cannot help but boast about the importance of their 'hakuna matata' philosophy.

Without magic.

This third part tries to revive the first part by seeing it from Timon and Pumba's point of view. I didn't quite like that setup. Magical parts from the first part (Hakanu Matata with Simba and the love between Simba and Nala) are reconstructed, as it were, but with a comic undertone.
The regular breaks aren't everything either. It knocks down the tempo during key scenes.

The humor is nevertheless quite good. Sometimes it's a bit too blunt (the animals bow to Simba because Pumba farted???).
As expected, the animation is pretty good, but some "interludes" with those bright colors are just plain ugly.

Comical but soulless and redundant part.

Sometimes quite funny, although the best moments are the ones that make you long for the original masterpiece. Funniest scenes, on the other hand, are those that have nothing to do with the original, especially how Timon and Pumba met. That they then turn out to be behind everything is funny, but I couldn't go along with it, especially because it all seems to happen within one day. Humor usually works, but sometimes it really misses the mark. Drawing is nice, but nowhere as beautiful as the big movies. 2.5*.
