In the film Steamboat Bill, Jr. (1928) by Buster Keaton was referred to (films with) Harold Lloyd by kos.

And indeed Kos, thanks for the tip!

"Speedy" is now the first Harold Lloyd film I have seen.

Compared to Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd is less of a comedian in my opinion. But in this film, Ted Wilde's direction makes up for everything. What a fresh, clear film this is, and for that age! The story is full of jokes and is told (in often short scenes) at a great pace, making it fascinating from beginning to end.

Simply a fantastic film for fans of this genre...

Excellent silent comedy, the script of which was provided by four screenwriters, according to the credits. In any case, it is packed with fun gags and a storyline that works. The emphasis is on the adventures of Harold Lloyd in a few stealing and associated accidents, with the obligatory love story with Ann Christy receiving relatively little attention and therefore not being essential. Besides the gags, you can enjoy the numerous outdoor locations in New York. Wild tram and taxi rides in the daily traffic of 1928 New York are on the agenda here. And then of course there is the spectacle in the amusement parks of Coney Island.

Speedy was Lloyd's last silent to be released in the cinema, and it is more than a worthy ending, it is again pure fun.

Endless Coney Island fun, followed by endless taxi-cock gags to let the fists speak to anyone or anything that doesn't have the heart in them and this in honor of that last horse tram.

A fine Harold Lloyd. He also effortlessly moved to sound films, but it cannot be denied that the silent films were his best, as evidenced by this "Speedy", one of his last.
