Monsieur Batignole plot
Paris, 1942. The grumpy butcher Batignole discovers that some hams have gone missing from his butcher's shop. Due to a combination of circumstances, the Jewish family living above the shop is blamed for the theft. The family is deported, but the youngest son Simon manages to escape and is on the doorstep of Batignole in no time. The old, unfriendly Batignole has no need at all for a little boy in his butcher shop, but in the end he decides to help Simon. He hides Simon in his house and devises a plan to smuggle him across the border.
