Ordinary Decent Criminal plot

"Stealing Is The Best Revenge"

Michael Lynch, a thief brimming with talent, is Dublin's most notorious criminal. He behaves like a modern Robin Hood: he only robs the rich but prefers to live among the less fortunate, assisted by his two wives, his children and his gang. Whenever possible, Michael disrupts the established order and makes a mockery of the police and other criminals with his spectacular heists. As his popularity with the public grows, the police become frustrated at not getting a hold of him. Noel Quigley in particular makes it a point of honor to let Michael Lynch sing a little lower.

blush No message at all and a vote placed on this film. I thought I had done that in the beginning. Well...with this one.
Seen in May 2005. It is indeed a very fun movie. A Lock Stock/Snatch the Irish way. The humor and the characters are very nice with a lot of underwear fun and plenty of action scenes. Also funny that the Irish "fuck" is pronounced "foek" Very nice that the bandits used paintings as shields.

Also pretty hard how Spacy's face is shot to smithereens at the end by a SWAT team. By the way, can someone also refresh my memory what happened in that scene where those gang members torture someone with a faucet or something?

4.0*

I'll have to buy this one on DVD.

This film is similar in structure to Guy Ritchies Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Unfortunately, this production is not nearly as memorable and the humor is often misplaced and it is a series of boring dialogues. Kevin Spacey is a very respected actor for me, but he was clearly not in his role here. Apart from that, he struggled with his accent, as several actors in this film struggled with this Celtic language.

Exaggerated over the top stuff of a bunch of unbelievable crooks being chased by an unbelievably blundering bunch of police. Well-known actors, but also a lot of mumbling from the same famous names, bad fake Irish accents, and too franticly smooth and hip - and the humor didn't really come across to me, barely a faint smile could be removed.

The same idea is often much better executed.
