One of the first Bergmans, and unfortunately, it isn't all that strong. Maj-Britt Nilsson is a pleasant presence, but otherwise, the acting of the cast was very superficial, while the themes are quite heavy. Later, Bergman would derive more from themes such as fidelity, death, and happiness.
