Quite a strong drama film that gets going after about 10 minutes. The story is set in a Polish monastery just after WWII where the nuns had to endure quite a lot during the war. The acting is so excellent that you eventually completely forget that you are watching actors and the story is presented in such a captivating way that you remain glued to the screen every minute. Little by little the story of the nuns is revealed which more than once delivers a hammer blow. It also does not stop or repeat itself for a moment, the script knows how to keep the film constantly developing. Also in terms of cinematography there is nothing to complain about with this beautiful winter and wooded environment. Very pleasantly surprised, towards the 4.5 *. Recommended.

The true story of a sister community that experiences a dramatic and traumatic experience in the aftermath of WWII, which also disrupts their strict rules of order.

Beautiful especially is the portrayal of the French nurse who with astonishment notes the damage done on many levels and equally beautiful is that of the sisters who step by step accept the help that is offered to them and are brought to all kinds of considerations. The role played by Agata Buzek is especially sublime.

A beautiful film, so to speak, about yet another nasty aspect of a war, but also an example of human solidarity and helpfulness.

I already thought "Entre ses Mains" was an excellent work by director Anne Fontaine (and also "Coco avant Chanel"), but this "Les Innocentes" can certainly take its place in the queue. A beautiful title, by the way.

Powerful post-war film about a taboo subject that I had not considered before. Les innocentes is a film with heavy dilemmas. Dilemmas that the sisters do not know how to deal with, but have to endure. Very serene and subdued, for which kudos to Fontaine! No overly sentimental drama. The slow pace ensures that everything is systematically absorbed.

Strong acting performances that seem very natural do the rest. Also very atmospheric filmed with the snow and the white color to hope. Beautiful cinematography!

Unknown film to me, but definitely recommended!
